Care of your board

Each board is individually hand finished with a food safe, hard wearing, wooden worktop oil. They should not be submerged in water to clean. A wipe down with a damp soapy cloth or a spritz with an anti-bacterial spray would be perfect.

How often should I oil my board?

Boards would benefit from an occasional re-coat using any food safe oil, this could be as much as once every couple of weeks to once every 6-8 weeks. It all depends on use!

Are they food safe?

All the boards I make are food safe. They are treated with a food safe oil. Wooden chopping boards have been used for hundreds of years so why stop now? Plastic, glass and slate chopping boards are all relatively new things and they’re no good for your knives!

Will they mark and scratch?

Some boards almost look too good to use, but this would be a huge shame! They might mark, get cut and become scratched with use, but this is a good thing as they will age, and change with time, just like all of us!

Will they warp or twist?

All the boards I make are from one single piece of wood. Due to the nature of timber some movement may occur. This is to be expected and is completely natural. Timber moves from season to season and can move with changes in temperature and moisture however it will find a stable level within your home in time.
